Hostage: Week 2 - Bitterness

There are seasons of life where we all feel trapped... sometimes for long periods of time we can actually feel as though we are HOSTAGE to our own thoughts, behaviors, addictions, and past. God did not create us to feel like this. It is not God’s plan and in His Word He actually gives us tools to use that will help us TAKE HOSTAGE our thoughts, words, and actions rather than feel HELD HOSTAGE to them.

Today, as we continue our summer teaching series, we will look specifically at hurts we all experience and how to deal with those hurts so they don’t create a ROOT of bitterness in our hearts. Bitterness to events and people of the past hold us HOSTAGE from experiencing the freedom of living for Christ, and today we will attack bitterness head on and discover the key to BREAKING FREE! It’s not an easy journey, but it is well worth the effort required to discover freedom!

6.23.13 Becoming Weird:Weird Future

Graduation season is upon us, and whenever we attend or think about any kind of graduation, we are reminded about our great hopes for the future. In the Old Testament there was a man named Samson. His father, Manoah, had great dreams for his son because God himself sent an angel to tell of the great things this boy would grow to accomplish for the kingdom of Israel. The problem is that Samson’s life was plagued by mistakes, failures, and sins. Often, even though we are here today, thousands of years later, we have the same story as Samson. The great news, is that, just like Samson, even with a past filled with failure, God still used his future for incredible good. Join us this week as Pastor Fetter dives into Judges 16 and examines the life of Samson so that we might learn from his failures, and also follow in his footsteps of repentance, so that we might experience God use us in powerful and effective ways.

Father’s Day is a great day for manly men to sit with their kids at their feet… holding their remote control tightly in their hand… popping open that ice cold Pepsi they most certainly deserve, and enjoying the day designed for them, where the world revolves around them…

Now… That all sounds great, but that is not reality at all.  Join us today as Pastor Fetter takes a look at one incredible father in the Old Testament who saw that being a dad was gonna be really hard work, and discover the benefit of choosing WHO, WHERE, and WHY… just like Manoah did!

6.2.13 Becoming Weird- Week 10- Weird Families

We see all kinds of families on television, in movies, and read about in books or magazines. One thing seems common.. normal families in our world today are broken. When we consider the statistics and look at the baggage the majority of people in our world are carrying around due to past family history, we have to step back and say WOW! Today Pastor Fetter challenges us to get a little WEIRD in our families, because normal is getting us no where fast. What does WEIRD look like in your family? Listen along and see if you have what it takes to discover WERID family relationships full of mercy, grace, joy, love, and peace in a world full of normal, lost, and hurting families.

The United State of America is a WEIRD nation. It is not normal. And to offer the promises of "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" to all who are blessed to live here is unlike any other people group in history. But, what if these pursuits could actually distract us from a relationship with Jesus? What if experinceing Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness were actually the opposite of what God wants for us? Listen in today as Pastor Fetter dives into our pride as Americans and challenges us to re-think what it looks like to live WEIRD and pray WEIRD in this WEIRD NATION we all love!

All of us had or have a mother... someone who brought us into the world.. and we know that none of us had a PERFECT mom. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. You are NOT what you have done, you ARE who God says you ARE! Listen as Fusion Community Church continues to become WeIrD!

5.5.13- Becoming Weird- Week 6- Weird Church

It is normal to show up to church on Sundays, when we FEEL like it... when we sing our favorite song. We can shift into cruise control in EVERY area of life. Matthew 7:13-14 says "Go in through the narrow gate. The gate to destruction is wide and the road that leads there is easy to follow. A lot of people go through that gate. But the gate of life is very narrow. Normal churches strive to make the members HAPPY, Weird churches strive to please God! Normal churches and normal church leaders get distracted from the main thing. Weird churches stay laser focused on the MISSION of CHRIST! Normal churches remain cautious. Weird churches take risks to REACH ONE MORE for CHRIST! If you want what normal people have, do what normal people are willing to do. If you want what few people have, do what few people are willing to do. Listen as we learn that normal is broken.

Are you running from God? As a child of God, have you wandered away like the younger son? Have you gotten so caught up in serving God that you haven’t built intimacy with him? Listen as Pastor Tim continues our Becoming Weird Series. If you want what normal people have, do what normal people are willing to do. If you want what few people have, do what few people are willing to do. Listen as we learn that normal is broken. Instead of being normal join us as we become weird!
