ACTS
“In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.””

Worship what comes to mind
-some love a new song
-some love a powerful promise
-some love a song from christian radio
-some love the songs of their faith journey
-some don’t really love singing at all
“Every time on sundays I never want to miss the worship music because I feel it prepares my heart to receive the message.”
D.M
What are other ways to worship?
Worship is a way of life, but is what we worship good?
-The human heart is a worship factory.
“just like a toddler throws a tantrum over a toy or something colorful, us adults do the same over money, power, sex, popularity, drugs, alcohol….”
-our loyalty and passion chases what we believe to be the greatest most worthy object in all of life.
“Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?”
Romans 6:16 NIV
4 commons areas we chase and worship
1 Power
Mark 9:33-34
2 control
Mark 10:35-37
3 applause
Matthew 16:16
4 pleasure
Luke 22:4-6
Are we chasing our own kingdom or the Kingdom of God?
-We are full of worldly worship, God says put your faith on the things of above. During this situation I have seen where my worship lays. Yes i love God, I have faith in Him but because I see the world I tend to believe in the things I’m m seeing, but God says “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet still believe”

“Travel light” in "PRAYER"
Do you see it now?
I mean the meaning of the title of this series, I feel like to me it has been an eye opener. Day by day I’m traveling with heavy weights on my shoulders, I’m trying to take the world and show the world I’m a hero, trying to be god. Trying to fix everything and everyone and in the middle losing sight of THE real relationship this whole situation has laid right in front of my eyes. See everything is stopping outside but I am actually going faster than ever.
God is actually saying slow down and look up to me, seek me.... and this is where today’s message from our lead Pastor is all about. The connection between men and God. Prayer.
Men+prayer=closeness/stronger relationship with God.
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
The purpose of prayer is not as much to GET OUT OF difficult circumstances but instead to get us THROUGH THEM!
“Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
Matthew 6:9-13 ESV
“Then he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me." And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."”
Matthew 26:38-39 ESV
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.”
1 Peter 5:6-9 NLT

Week 2
“REST”
Are you desiring Jesus more?
Most days we are carrying heavy luggage, extra things that just make life harder.
Lent is a period of times when we stop the clock, when we pause, is a time when we ask God, is my normal dangerous?
Infinite desire+Finite reality=Restlessness.
Mark 6:31
“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.””
Mark 6:31 NIV
Acts 1:7-8
Jesus said “Do nothing until.....”
Rest is part of our lives.
Jesus modeled a “Rhythm of rest”
Sabbath- exodus 20:8-11
Sabbath elements
1 Stop-cease working
2 Rest.
Physical
Mental/emotional
Spiritual
3 delight- activities that bring joy.
4 worship-re surrender to Jesus.
Sabbath principle
“God can do more with less, than I could ever do with more.”
Deuteronomy 18:11-18
“or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so. The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.” The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him.”
Deuteronomy 18:11-18 NIV
Sabbath practice
Feasting. Walking/hiking. Outdoors/time in nature. Napping/resting. Reading/music. Time together with family and friends. Time alone with God. Ways to be generous. Motivations to do driven with gratitude. Things that make you smile and fuel your joy. Creative expressions of worship to God.

Ecclesiastes 1:8
“All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.”
Ecclesiastes 1:8 NIV
“We can never fill our needs, we always want more. “
“Fleshy desires will make decisions for you and the wrong desires lead to death”
“No one has had enough in life, always wanting more”
“Infinite desire + finite reality = restlessness”
How do we live in this condition, in this state?
John 14:6
“Jesus answered, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 CEB
What does John 14:6 means?
“Jesus replied, “ I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
John 6:35 CEB
Galatians 5:16-17
“I say be guided by the Spirit and you won’t carry out your selfish desires. A person’s selfish desires are set against the Spirit, and the Spirit is set against one’s selfish desires. They are opposed to each other, so you shouldn’t do whatever you want to do.”
Galatians 5:16-17 CEB
Do you feel restlessness in your life?
What do you desire?
““Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
“Learn the unforced rhythms of grace”👇👇👇
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.””
